Use the BMR calculator to estimate how many calories the body burns at rest each day, and the BMI calculator to find a body mass index and weight category from height and weight. Each calculator has its own Gutenberg block and shortcode, so you can show one or both, wherever you need them.<\/p>\n\n

What the calculators do<\/h4>\n\n
BMR (basal metabolic rate) is the number of calories your body needs at rest to keep vital functions running. The BMR calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation: 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) - 5 x age (years), then + 5 for men or - 161 for women.<\/p>\n\n
BMI (body mass index) is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. The BMI calculator shows the number and labels it as thin (18.4 or below), normal (18.5 to 25) or overweight (above 25).<\/p>\n\n
