How does it work?

To prevent spam comments plugin blocks the default action path (wp-comments-post.php) for bots and make it accessible over unique hash query string when a visitor scroll to leave a comment. This way it prevents automated spam comment done by bots.

To install this plugin from WordPress Dashboard

  1. Go to Plugins menu > Add new
  2. Search for Forget Spam Comment
  3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  4. If you are using any page cache plugin, make sure to purge/clear the cache.

To install this plugin manually

  1. Download the Forget Spam Comment Plugin
  2. Upload Forget Spam Comment to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  4. If you are using any page cache plugin, make sure to purge/clear the cache.

How to test whether this plugin is working or not?

Go to any post where comment is enabled and try to post a comment. If comment is posted successfully means everything is working fine. If you see error 400, you just have forgot to clear page cache after plugin activation. If you are still unable to post a comment and page just reload to itself means your theme uses a different comment form ID that has not been included by this plugin. Please create a support topic with your site URL. I will take care of it.

Which commenting system is supported by this plugin?

Only Default Commenting System of WordPress. Any other commenting system like AMP, Disqus, JetPack Comment, wpDiscuz are not supported.

How to get technical assistance for this plugin?

Update: I don’t know what the problem is, but now visitors get an Error 400 and nobody can post a comment anymore. Maybe it was an update from Wordpress? It is sad, the plugin was really great… Zero spam immediately after installing it – this is awesome! Thank you for the great plugin!

Worked Brilliant Until WP 6.5.5 Update

This is a great plugin, worked perfectly. But I just updated to 6.5.5, and it immediatly stopped working. Gulshan, could you please update the plugin. thanks

This is the best ultra-simple (and free) way to stop comment spam, thanks to the method it uses. Alternative effective solutions are more complicated and involve webserver configuration or WAF and CAPTCHA services. Other plugins simply fail to address the root cause of comment spam. This is the one to use.

Breaks Website But Support Is Prompt.

This plugin returns an email warning from Wordpress as not being secure and blocks access to login page. It produces a fatal error. I’ve edited this review to reflect the support provided and may look into this plugin again in the future if needed to test again.
